British Junior Women’s Road Race Championship

Reigning World Junior Road Race Champion Lucy Garner added the British Junior Women’s Road Race Championship to her palmares when she pipped rival Elinor Barker to the line after a gruelling 48-mile title race in South Wales.

Garner (Node 4-Giordana) was just one second ahead of Barker (Scott Contessa Epic) in the title race, while Barker’s team-mate Amy Roberts took third, just inches behind.

Barker had the consolation of winning the Welsh Championship title, but she was so close to pipping Garner for the national title.

The race also incorporated an open senior event, and first over the line was Kimberley Ashton (Abergavenny RC), who was 10 seconds ahead of Tracy Best (Donna Shutt) while Garner was third, 22 seconds off Ashton’s pace.
